Running water. It’s one of those things I take for granted. Turn on the tap, and there it is. Turn a couple dials, and the washing machine fills up with water.
There’s a flip side to running water, and it turns out I’ve taken that for granted too. Until this week. Because all that running water needs to go somewhere. And when the sewer pipe gets clogged, there’s nowhere for the water to go. No washing anything. No taking a shower.
I discovered the water in the basement Thursday morning as I was running down to grab something before I headed to work.
“Matt! Get down here!” I yelled. Later, I asked him what he thought was down there. He said an animal. That might have been easier.
After two days of repairs, a hole jackhammered into the basement floor, and an overnight stay at our local hotel, we’re back up and running. Kudos to the guys at Good Tidings Plumbing for a job well done.
And every time I run the tap, use the dishwasher, … and flush, I appreciate the running water. But I appreciate that clear sewer pipe too.
