Racing Movie Project: Cars

CarsMovie: Cars
Year: 2006
Starring: The voices of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy, Cheech Marin, Tony Shaloub

Rating: ⚐⚐⚐⚐ (out of 5)
Plot: Cars follows the story of the up-and-coming Lightning McQueen, who is a, well, talking car, not a race car driver, when he finds his way to Radiator Springs.
Thoughts:I purposely scheduled Cars right before Christmas because it’s animated and animated movies make me happy. While this is a kids movie, I love every bit of it. Because it really is a movie for adults as well. There are so many “inside jokes” and car references for adults. Porsches, Italian mechanics, the Hudson Hornet voiced by Paul Newman himself. I love that this movie has made millions of kids race fans. And it gives all a great lesson – the importance of friends and family and how sometimes it’s good to slow down and share some time with them.
Next film:I’ll be taking a holiday break next week but then it’ll be Stroker Ace for December 31.

Funny-you said that this movie makes you happy. And while I often laugh at Mater (eventually the jokes get old when you’ve watched the movie as many times as I have with my son), I ALWAYS cry when (spoiler alert!) Lightning McQueen sacrifices the big race to do the right thing.
    Merry Christmas!
